still bragging...

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 | | 3 comments
with some extra christmas money, i headed to kohls.
because, as you know, it is my second home.
(and some days, my first.)
all i have to says is that this vest was $60 and it was marked down to $12

holy crap i love it!
i wore it to church and felt HOT!
(are you allowed to feel like that at church?)
and yes, chris is still tired about me bragging.

planning for halloween! it IS just around the corner you know!

and yes, you are seeing that correctly my thrifty friends, it was 90% off!
80 cents baby!
this is gonna be one cheap year!

poor crazy aunt trish...

Monday, December 13, 2010 | | 2 comments
my aunt trish is having bunion surgery today.

(this is her and her friend dianna. the 3 of us used to go to bars alot when we were younger.)
it turns out that both of her parents (my nana and pop pop) and my mom had bunions removed.
and after some 'webmd.com-ing', i found that it is genetic.
thankfully, my feet look great and i'm thinking i got my father's feet.
but sad for trish. she is amazing and kind and so very generous to me and my family.
i wanted to send her something, but since i already sent her christmas gift (something really really cute from aunt pegs!), and im running low on funds so close to christmas, i had to get creative.
i asked the family.
chris suggested a bag of funions because they rhyme with bunions
(vetoed)
parker wanted to get a book on paul bunion
(also vetoed)
so it was all up to me and kohls. i had a coupon for 15% off so i ran down the street and found some fluffy soft socks.

and i decorated a cardboard tag.
i know a simple gift. but it is the thought that counts-right?
and parker did make a little card for her that featured paul bunion.
he gets his strangeness from his father's side...

time to switch my purse...(aka, more mid life crisis shopping)

some of you might remember when i was hitting my mid life crisis and bought this amazing bag! i still love it but with me needing to change to fall (not so much because of the weather as because i'm sick of summer), i put her away for awhile.
sad. she is so pretty.
but thankfully, i have my crazy aunt trish (who thought id be sad seeing both of my kids in school all day and sent me $50 kohls gift card!) who came to my rescue!
so i got this new bag...

i love giraffe prints! ($9.99 plus another 15% off!)
and (among other things) i got a pair of shoes.
well, sandals really. i got the ones on the left 2 1/2 years ago at kohls. they are my 'go to shoes' and even with a little heel, they are so comfy!
i got replacement 'go to shoes' on the right! same company (mootsies tootsies), same size, but a newer version.
im pretty happy with them for many reasons, but here is a big one...
that is right baby! $8.99 plus another 15% off!
and, yes all my shoes are in boxes (if they came in boxes)

the ones that aren't in boxes are only because they didn't come in boxes. i love my shoes boxes!
yes, i know im sick.

i love kohls. i want to marry it...

i have told you before how much i love kohls. the just have great sales and actually have customer service! what a combo!
i actually went into kohls looking for long church pants for parker (who at 9 years, has to wear is size 14 SLIM pant!).
i didnt find those but i found....
a complete outfit for nate for next spring! this was 90% off and i had a 15% off coupon! sweet deal!

and more for nate (i swear parker isnt neglected!)...2 star wars tshirts for school (next school year. we are finally done!). each $2.49, and another 15% off!
so my total was $9.
IM ALWAYS TRYING TO SAVE CHRIS SOME MONEY!
(arent i the best wifey ever?!)

lookie what i made!

back story....
you see, back when i was on effexor (we called it e-FIX-her because it is a fantastic drug) for anexiety/depression, i got myself the cutest tunic. i love it so much and i looked really good in it because of effexor. (effexor has a nice little side effect that will cure anyones depression...you drop weight! fast and alot of it!)
im in no way fat now, but lets just say i doubt i will be back down to 122 lbs anytime soon. so sad. i really want to wear it. so it sits in a bucket full of way way too small clothes.
********
last weekend i found simplicity 2696 online (sooo much easier than looking thru those HUGE books at the fabric store with kids asking if they can leave now!).it was on sale for $1.99 at joannes and then i found this great blue fabric ($5.99+60% off!).
it claims to be an 'easy' pattern, and i bet it is if you dont have kids who need you for everything love you to peices. but it only took 1 morning to make, so i guess that isnt too bad.

here is me wearing it as a cover up for the pool. id say for the shore, but we are in utah and there isnt one.
(btw-i love my new swimsuit! but you wont see a photo of me in that here!)
modeling it as if im taking an evening walk around the neighborhood with the hubby and kids. these are my new capris i scored at kohls. if you dont have a kohls nearby, i feel sorry for you.

you cant see these in the photo, but i have these colorful bracelets on. i love wearing them in the summer! (also for kohls. i should get paid for this endorsement!)
final photo, me and shopping/hanging mode.
i just got those bright yellow ball-y bracelets at jc pennys and i adore them!
so there you go!  my very first shirt! mrs lane would be so freaking proud!
and remember that fabric-you will see it again soon! (like tomorrow-another project!)
oh, and i really like my legs right now! they are looking wonderful! i have to blame going to jazzercise 5 times a week for those!

my love affar with kohls and other thoughts going thru my head

do you have a kohls nearby? we finally do, and even when it wasnt really nearby, i would shop there way way too much.
back me up other kohls shoppers-there is always a sale! and you can always find a last minute gift at kohls for a great price.
now take a look at this shirt. i have no idea what animal they are mimicking here, but I LOVE IT! i havent been my old funky self for awhile, and when i saw this in the JUNIORS section, i knew i had to have it.
well, that and the fact that it ended  up costing about $6.
for those of you who didnt know me way back when, i used to be very funky. i was always stylish and cool and people wanted to be me (at least, that is how i perceived the world!). since i moved to utah (very conservative), got married (aka out of money) and had kids (even more broke)-i opted for safe, boring clothes.
my 25 year old self would put a via spegia boot heal thru my eye if she saw me now.
but that is going to change. i want to be the 'funky ba' again. if that means i cant have as many clothes/shoes/jewerly because i cant find them easily here in utah-im ok with that.
am i going to rebel so far from my 39 year old self that i wear daisey dukes to take the kids to the park.
uuummm...let's just say...
no.
but i will be funky ba.
just not nakedly dressed ba.
(thank me now for that decision!)
and yes, i believe this must be my mid-life crisis.
