time to switch my purse...(aka, more mid life crisis shopping)

Monday, September 20, 2010 | | 3 comments
some of you might remember when i was hitting my mid life crisis and bought this amazing bag! i still love it but with me needing to change to fall (not so much because of the weather as because i'm sick of summer), i put her away for awhile.
sad. she is so pretty.
but thankfully, i have my crazy aunt trish (who thought id be sad seeing both of my kids in school all day and sent me $50 kohls gift card!) who came to my rescue!
so i got this new bag...

i love giraffe prints! ($9.99 plus another 15% off!)
and (among other things) i got a pair of shoes.
well, sandals really. i got the ones on the left 2 1/2 years ago at kohls. they are my 'go to shoes' and even with a little heel, they are so comfy!
i got replacement 'go to shoes' on the right! same company (mootsies tootsies), same size, but a newer version.
im pretty happy with them for many reasons, but here is a big one...
that is right baby! $8.99 plus another 15% off!
and, yes all my shoes are in boxes (if they came in boxes)

the ones that aren't in boxes are only because they didn't come in boxes. i love my shoes boxes!
yes, i know im sick.

macaroons-dont go to a party with out them.

my good friend summer had a purse/frame/jewerly party the other night. i got this smoking hot yellow purse to go with my midlife crisis.
LOVE IT!
i couldnt go to a party with out at least asking if i can bring something. (i will always ask. but if you say no, i will make the cookies anyways and eat them myself.) summer saved me from about 47,000 calories by letting me bring my macaroons.
i have had store bought macaroons, and oh. my. YUCK! heavy, tasteless, non-chocolate chip-y balls.
my family's are NOTHING like that. first, they have chocolate chips. and we all know chocolate makes everything taste better!
and the whole time i was there people were talking about them, and asking if i had tried them. (i had-that morning for breakfast i had 2.) i dont think they knew i brought them, and they werent the sales people so i know they werent trying to get my to buy anything.
i will give you my recipe and let you see for yourself.

4 eggs
¼ tsp. of salt
1 ½ cups of sugar
1 ½ cups flour
2 TBS of margerine, melted
4 cups (14 oz) coconut
2 cups (12 oz) milk chocolate chips
2 tsp. lemon rind
2 tsp. of vanilla
beat eggs and salt. add sugar. beat 5-7 minutes then mix in margarine. add flour, coconut, chocolate chips, lemon rinds and vanilla. i use a medium scoop from pamered chef to spoon them out. bake on lightly greased and floured cookie sheets (i actually use parchment paper).
bake at 350 for 12 minutes.

my love affar with kohls and other thoughts going thru my head

do you have a kohls nearby? we finally do, and even when it wasnt really nearby, i would shop there way way too much.
back me up other kohls shoppers-there is always a sale! and you can always find a last minute gift at kohls for a great price.
now take a look at this shirt. i have no idea what animal they are mimicking here, but I LOVE IT! i havent been my old funky self for awhile, and when i saw this in the JUNIORS section, i knew i had to have it.
well, that and the fact that it ended  up costing about $6.
for those of you who didnt know me way back when, i used to be very funky. i was always stylish and cool and people wanted to be me (at least, that is how i perceived the world!). since i moved to utah (very conservative), got married (aka out of money) and had kids (even more broke)-i opted for safe, boring clothes.
my 25 year old self would put a via spegia boot heal thru my eye if she saw me now.
but that is going to change. i want to be the 'funky ba' again. if that means i cant have as many clothes/shoes/jewerly because i cant find them easily here in utah-im ok with that.
am i going to rebel so far from my 39 year old self that i wear daisey dukes to take the kids to the park.
uuummm...let's just say...
no.
but i will be funky ba.
just not nakedly dressed ba.
(thank me now for that decision!)
and yes, i believe this must be my mid-life crisis.
Talk About it Tuesday
