st patrick's day makes me need therapy

Tuesday, February 23, 2010 |
growing up i hated st. patrick's day. my little brother (who is now 6'8"...not so little) was named 'patrick' and in my little kid's mind-HE HAD A HOLIDAY NAMED AFTER HIM! we were brought up catholic, so we also went to church on this day too (catholic schools go to church for all holidays. but it gets you out of geography so why not!). i hated that there wasn't a holiday to celebrate me.
i'm over it now.
at least, that is what i tell my therapist.
SO...this is what i started with...a plain wooden shamrock cutout from wood connection (please don't notice the green paint on the sides! i had already started painting when i thought to take photos!)
next came the green pain. i used gamel green. very basic. then i modge podged it and glittered the poo out of the thing. since it was a nice day (and i knew my boys would some how knock it on the ground and  spill giltter all over). (nice sock ba!)
finally, and i mean finally, i found a spot. not the coolest decoration, but it adds a bit to the bookcase and the bottle filled with green beads. i also have my spring stuff up, so i just wanted hints of st. pat's day here and there.
hints to remind me of the pain i endured as a child who didn't have a holiday named after her.
where is my therapist's number????

I love it.. I loooove glitter. When I use it, it gets all over, though.

Thank you so much for linking up with the Talented Tuesday link party at My Frugal Family, which is hosted every Tuesday. Please feel free to stop back in every week and post your newest projects!

We loved St. Pat's Day because it falls during Lent and we were "excused" from fasting because it was a Saint's day. You gotta love the Catholic religion. My mother's birthday was March 16th and she would always celebrate on the 17th. Plus, who doesn't love green beer!

That's made me laugh. I was born the day after Burns night (which is a big night in Scotland).
Think I need therapy 'cause I was born a day late, not a boy and so could not be called Robert. A disappointment from the day I was born haha they say they love me though so not too bad.(My brother got the name 2 years later so my dad got his boy after all.)
