back to school-in 7 days!

(but who is counting?)
here in utah, we have year round school at most elementary schools. it is a pretty sweet deal. 9 weeks of school, then a 3 week break. right when you start to get tired of the daily get-up-get-kids-fed-and-out-the-door-by-8am routein, you get 3 weeks off to sleep in, go to the zoo, get drs appointments in. the right when you are getting tired of the kids and their fighting-it is time to head back to school!
i think it is brillant!
so although 3 'tracks' have been on for 2 weeks, we head back on the 16th.
im ready.
on the first day of school, i always send some supplies in with my kids. kleenex is always in there. not only do schools still use that yucky, rough, scratchy tissues-my kids (especially my 9 year old), used them alot. sometimes they end up in gift bags, but being crafty this year, i MADE cloth, reuseable gift bags.
first i grabbed some fabric (im useing this ticking for mr draper) and just wrapped it around the supplies. pretty low tech.
next i cut and sewed it up the side and bottom. no photo needed, right?
then i stood the bag upright with the supplies inside the pinned where i wanted the miter seam to be. i actually KNEW that term before today-thank you mrs lane!
i sewed the miter seam, turned the bag right side out and this is what it looks like from the inside.
and from the outside...

aaahhhhh-can you think of a prettier way to kiss up to your new teachers?
