may the force be with us...part 1

Monday, March 15, 2010 |
my natey loves star wars.
i mean, we liked star wars when we were kids.
we played star wars in the back yard.
nate LIVES star wars on a daily basis.
(this is halloween 2008 when i made both kids jedi costumes for halloween).
so i was just adding a few things here and there to give his room a 'big boy' look. he used to love trucks, trains and any matter of vehicles. now that he is a big old 6 year old, i wanted his room to reflect what he has been in love with for the past, oh 2 or 3 years.
yea-i'm right on top of stuff here.
the transformation started with this. i figured, oh what the heck...i need a new project (LOL!).
i started with this magnet board that was already in nate's room. it is still in good condition i pried the truck off and then primed it and painted it red.
uuummmm...i wont even use a photo here of what that looked like.
yup-it was that bad.
red is a really had color to use when painting. there is something about the pigment.
so i re-primed it and painted it with chalk board paint.
isnt that brillant!?
so now he can post things on the magnet part and write thengs on the chalk board part!
who is the coolest mom ever?
(you dont need to answer. my kids already answered it. they can do that in their sleep. i have trained them well.)
i also made some magnets with a peice of clone trooper scrapbook paper and a scrap of  'universe' paper (black with white star dots on it)
stay tuned for the next part of the transformation!

So fun! We have had a lot of star wars in our house lately, so my boys would really like this!

That turned out really cute. I would freak though when there was chalk on the chalkboard pant because I can't stand it when it isn't perfectly clean (don't laugh...I know you're thinking...really? I've seen your house!!) but some things bug me...like chalk. I even bought the chalk board easel from IKEA but won't let them use the chalk side. I told Jacob it's just a decoration :)So is it working well?

My kids are deprived because they will probably never watch star wars. I don't watch movies much and have never gotten into Star WArs. Thanks for linking these up!

My husband is a Star Wars nut. He would have loved this room as a child. Love the chalkboard paint around the magnet board. Definitely a cool mom! ;)

Thanks for linking up today.
