a quite day at home in the snow...(and a second post today!)

Friday, March 5, 2010 |
i think i might not make it to spring. just the other day i was telling chris that im feeling like there is light at the end of the tunnel. winter is almost gone.
then this morning at 5am there was 2+" on my driveway.
so to keep my mind off of my pain, i decided to work on something spring-y.
it started with this towel from the dollar tree. if i were to make another one, i would spend the money and get a better quality one...maybe walmart or target.
next i found some left over fabric from here. i just cut a 4" strip that was from salvege edge to salvage edge. then i pinned it over about a half inch on each side, pinned and ironed it down.

i edged the bottom side with some brown bias tape left over from here (yes a different apron post!). now, i usually have a pattern or at least something to start from when i do a sewing project. not today-this is all on the fly (and very unlike me. i think it is the delusional thoughts of spring). when i had attached the tape, i folded, ironed and sewed down about an inch on each side. then i was able to wrap it around the back of the towel to make it look nice from the front. and i just wanted it to look good.
here is the final product! i think it looks great in my main floor bath!

oh and this is the FAMOUS (in my book) mrs. pamela lane from dallastown high school. i took home ec for 3 years from her. so all of my sewing 'skills' come from being in her class. i dont know if she will be happy i published that or not...

Super cute!! Love it! You're way more crafty than you give yourself credit for. I would never think to do something on the fly.

I've seen this fabric before and I think it is so cute. I've asked my friend that sews to make me a tote bag using it for my birthday. I love it on the towel. Super cute!

Oh that turned out super cute! I love how you used scraps from here and there. The brown bias tape is a nice touch and makes it look more expensive. Great job!

I have been looking for pretty hand towels for my bathroom!! I'm having a major duh moment. Of course they would be better/cheaper/customized if I made them.

Thank you so much for linking up to A Little Craft Therapy with Life in the Pitts!
